The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, was founded by the Catholic bishops of the United States, with a charter from then Pope Leo XIII, to be the national pontifical university of the Catholic Church in America. For more than 130 years, we have lived out our mission to discover and impart the truth through excellence in teaching and research. Students and scholars in all fields embrace both reason and faith as they apply the inexhaustible resources of the Catholic intellectual tradition to help solve the problems of contemporary life and enrich the culture around us.
In fall 2020, The Catholic University of America launched its innovative new BA in Management program in Tucson. This program is directed by the University’s School of Professional Studies. We deliver it locally in partnership with Pima Community College (PCC).
Catholic University has a demonstrated track record of providing unique services to the Church, the nation, and the world. From 1912 to 1968, we operated a Program of Affiliation which, at its height, included 177 affiliated campuses across the country. The University provided these campuses with curricula, faculty training, and best practices. This program was discontinued in 1968 once these affiliated campuses could operate on their own.
The undergraduate business degree program for students in Tucson is a 21st-century version of this historical commitment. We are committed to improving the lives of students, their families, and Tucson itself.
The University has worked with over 300 members of the community to customize this program for Tucson. The local supporters include the mayor of Tucson, the bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Tucson, and key business and school leaders. In particular, we engaged with the presidents, principals, and counselors at all of the local Catholic high schools and with select public high schools.
The University has formed a local employer network to help students build bridges to local businesses and to prepare students for the future of work.
This program was built in collaboration with national expert advisors Education Design Lab and Extension Engine.
